Tinago Falls

Iligan City is famous for its waterfalls and is also known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls. And incredibly marvelous among the famous falls aside from Ma. Christina falls is the Tinago Falls. Tinago falls coming from the Filipino word "tinago" which mean "hidden" is really hidden in the deep ravine of Brgy. Ditucalan. The waterfalls is said to be 240 ft. from the cliff. 

 The first time I saw the Tinago falls, I fell in love with it. It was my first time to see a majestic waterfalls. What I felt was indescribable. It was like the feeling of fleeting and all I know is that I am  swimming crazily in the basin-like pool.  

The power of water cascading over our body is so intense and powerful. It is so strong that i can't imagine myself being near the small cave. That strong impact as water falls is so intense. I can't keep my eyes closed because the water really falls beautifully. One of those beautiful moments in life that I will cherish forever.  

 

It is really one way to unwind and break free.. I felt tired after the plunge, but the feeling it gave me was liberating and worth it!

Peñafrancia Festival in Tawi-Tawi (Parada kay Ina), 2012

The Feast of our Lady of Peñafrancia is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of September in Bongao,Tawi-Tawi. The Tawi-tawi Bicol Association is a group of bicolanos who are committed in preserving the spirit of brotherhood and friendship among bicolanos who are living in Tawi-Tawi. The "parada kay Ina" was attended by bicolanos who are from different walks of life. The group started the procession at 5:30 A.M. from the house of Manay Zeny (popularly known as Bicolano's Eatery) going to the Parish church in Pag-asa area. After the procession, a mass was offered to Ina. The group of Bicolanos will have a social gathering after the mass. Every Bicolano is invited in this special occasion.

Tawi-Tawi Bicol Association was formed on February 21, 1998. The president of the said association is Mr. Joel Dimaiwat.  At present, there are 100 active members.

Tawi-Tawi's Native Food

Do you know why it is more fun in Tawi-Tawi? One reason is because of the native food. Almost all natives of Tawi-Tawi know how to cook-- like a real chef. For women, they can surely win the heart of every man who could taste their exquisite masterpiece. It is really mouth watering when you have a picture of cassava or "siyanglag /pyuto" together with grilled fish as a meal, not to mention the different cookies or "bangbang" that Tawi-Tawi can produce. The  native food that is of its finest and delicate form is a pride for Tawi-tawians.
